We started our day in Omote-sando because one of the coffee places on my list is Koffee Mameya which is a roaster and coffee shop. I totally forgot to make reservations for their other location and luckily this location doesn't require it so we were still able to go! The coffee was really nice I got Geisha variety from Immaculada Coffee. I've always wanted to try the beans from them but every time I try to get Inmaculada Coffee Farms it's always sold out so I'm glad I finally got to try it. We
We had our last breakfast in Onomichi for this part of the trip. We went to きっちゃ初 a very charming cafe / breakfast spot in Onomichi. We're so happy we were able to eat here because her reservations are always full everyday. We went and she told us that if we wait for an hour we can get seated, so we went ahead and grabbed coffee and checked out of our Airbnb before we headed over for breakfast. Going from Onomichi to Tokyo was a pretty long journey, me and Meghal had to pick up some of our lugg
Today is our last full day in Onomichi, and we packed it with some pretty ambitious plans: breakfast, a bike ride, a tram ride up to do some sightseeing, finding souvenirs, dinner and also packing up so that we can head out tomorrow. As always, we started the day with coffee. Meghal found a spot called Liminal Coffee, it’s inside the lobby of a charming hotel near where we’re staying. I got a pour-over, and Meghal tried their special black sugar latte. Both were delicious! We met the owners, L
We spent the day exploring Onomichi again! We had a bit of trouble finding a breakfast place today, the places we went to was full and one of them we needed reservations. We eventually found a cafe, they told us they were full but we might’ve misunderstood them because maybe they just asked if we can just wait outside. We were about to get takeout when some people left and we got seated right away so we were pretty confused. We got some obanyaki and went on walk back to our favorite coffee spot
Our adventures continues today with making our way to Onomichi, a port side town in Hiroshima. They’re famous for their temples, and alley cats. We had a quick breakfast and went to Shin Osaka station to take the Shinkansen. Meghal found Pour a coffee shop we can go to that had specialty coffee beans. The coffee was excellent, we picked light roast fruity coffees and we tasted different coffees that had notes of Melon, Cassis, and Lychee. I’m so surprise that there’s a specialty coffee place i
We met up with my uncle at Glitch today, he’s been living in Japan for over 8 years here in Osaka. It’s been a while since I’ve seen him because he lived in Canada for most of his life and we’ve only had an overlap of 5 years when I first moved there. We got espressos, lattes and pour overs from Glitch. They make their pour overs and espresso REALLY well so I usually order 2 drinks 🤣. This was Angela’s first time trying Glitch’s coffee, as well as her first experience with specialty coffee. W
We outside again We went to this 24 hour diner Nakau Haginochaya for breakfast it was sooo good! Random but after breakfast we found this random place that apparently Obama went to? Today we planned to go to a coffee shop called Ult which is a cafe by the World Barista Champion of 2023 Boram Um. Me and Angela got a pour over and Meg got a latte. Angela started looking up Boram online and found out that he’s handsome and asked why I didn’t tell her that he’s handsome 🤣. It’s hilarious because
Today Meghal had her first omurice at Ichikawaya Coffee They gave us this tiny milk pitcher for our coffees (i wish i took it home with me) We went on a mini hike at the Fushimi Inari Taisha I went to Glitch coffee Osaka which has been the best espresso & latte I’ve had in Japan so far. I think they’ve served me one of the best if not the best espresso I’ve ever had. 🥲 Now I have to try to recreate that same smoothness at home or else I’ll just throw my espresso machine away… We went to Dot
The three of us weren’t originally supposed to sit together for the entire flight, but we lucked out when we checked in the day before and somehow found three available seats in the middle row! After landing at Haneda we took the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Kyoto around 5pm. Unfortunately, we had a lot of mishaps getting to Kyoto – we struggled buying our train tickets on the kiosks, the website to buy tickets online would not load, the train was about an hour late (thanks mercury retrograde
